I think many parents are either uninformed themselves (i.e., don't care enough) and/or try to "protect" their children from the horrors happening in the world, keeping them in fantasy land.
I was like that before the War in Ukraine started, and I started really following the events through Twitter.. Then I realized that by shielding them from the reality I was actually taking important things away from them: the opportunity to see the world for what it really is, the ability to think critically about world events and geopolitics, and the ability to see that elected world leaders can also be cowards and let genocide happen right under their nose, thereby spitting in the face of all the people who suffer right now, and of those who suffered in previous conflicts, including WWII. "Never again" we said. Right...
